Kanturk RFC Mini Rugby 2020/2021 Season

Age:

We welcome all boys and girls from the age of 6 years onwards.

The following are the age groups for mini rugby.

Player welfare:

The club takes player welfare very seriously and all coaches are Garda vetted in line with IRFU requirements. All coaches are trained by Munster Branch on coaching methods including safety for child welfare. The club ensures that at least one person who has completed the IRFU Safe Rugby programme is present during training and blitzes. For all interested parents, the club will be arranging the next Safe Rugby training programme in the near future. You can contact your child’s coach for more details.

The club’s child welfare officer, ensures that these protocols are adhered to by the club in conjunction with our mini rugby directorate.

Training:

Your head coach will text you regularly to ensure it is clear when and where training is taking place. If you do not receive updates then please ask the coach to confirm you are included in the team messaging group.

Equipment required:

Each child is required to have the following equipment to play mini rugby at the club:

• Gum shield
• Boots
• Warm training gear (gloves and hats are recommended in colder weather)
• White shorts and green socks for fixtures
• Own water bottle marked with their name

Tops with hoods are forbidden for training and fixtures in the interest of child welfare. Sports glasses are not recommended by the IRFU and the club adheres to this protocol.

Parents’/guardians’ involvement in the club – always welcome:

All those involved in mini rugby at the club are volunteers and the mini rugby directorate is always looking for any parents or guardians who are willing to help. This is your and your child’s club and we rely on your support and help to maximise the mini rugby experience for your child.

Any suggestions you may have on helping our mini rugby family to improve and expand are always appreciated.

We would be delighted if you are willing to help out in any capacity or have any suggestions for improvement.
